Summer 2023
On August 13th ,
2023 some of the membership met in Amherst for golf and we held an informal meeting afterwards.
There wasn’t much on the agenda this year for discussion,
but we covered off a few issues:
• Courses
will continue to be played within the new general yardage range of 5800 – 6000
give or take a bit of yardage
• Putting
handicaps will be used again in 2024 – there may be some minor tweaks but
otherwise the same basic system will be employed
• Some
suggestions were made for courses, and it was mentioned that the shorter drives
associated with courses closer to the condo were favorable; courses within
about 30 minutes maximum driving distance will be looked at for 2024 – that
puts us south to the highway 501 courses or north into North Carolina just past
the Calabash area
Our winners Sunday were the team of Porcupine and
Wildcat with a 1 under score of 70. They also won dogmeat on #13. Only 1 stroke
back at even par 71 was Triple Crown and 2RRs and they won the dogmeat on #4.
Third place was Fash and Usher at 72. The other teams
seemed to have a good time. Chicken John launched a massive drive on #11
encouraged by his partner Big Stop so they won longest drive. Only 2 teams kept
track of putts so Sudsy and Bubba took $20 each with 30.
Four 4-bedroom condos have been reserved at Crescent
Shores for next spring. Course reservations will be made soon and a call for
participation in MBSA 2024 will go out in early October. Arrival day is Friday
April 26 with checkout Saturday May 4.
